A New Year Begins
Happy New Year! May this year bring
everyone increased prosperity, peace
and happiness!
This January issue is always the smallest
one of the year, as folks have been busy
for the Christmas holidays. Mary Alice
Murphy will return next month with a
new interview, and Dianne Vandell will
get readers up to date with her news
of Duncan and Southern Arizona.
Good economic news arrived in December,
as Grant County reported that lodgers’ tax
was up, a reflection that folks are still,
traveling and visiting our region.
With that bit of encouragement, I hope
that many of you will sign on as advertisers
for this year’s Forever Frontier
Visitors Guide! Information is included
in the print issue: take a look and give
me a call (or email) to reserve your
space now. I expect to go to press in
early April, with distribution beginning
soon after. Info will be available online
soon.
Photos on January’s cover are
from the Christmas Play and Live Nativity
events, performed by the children of
Glenwood Elementary School, and the Old-Fashioned
Christmas Celebration in Quemadol. Both
events were delightful! (more
photos)
The recipes I’ve included in
the Gazette pages have proven so popular
that I’ve posted dozens of them
to the Glenwood Gazette website blog.
Now you can access many recipes from
former issues, copy and print them out.
We've
also created a database of other
recipe websites for
you on the recipe
page. More recipes will continue
to be posted, so take a look, and Happy
Cookin'!
The closing date for February’s
Gazette will be January 18, so send in
your community events for Valentine celebrations,
and even future months, for our Calendar.
Mark Twain once said of the New Year, “Now
is the accepted time to make your regular
annual good resolutions. Next week you
can begin paving hell with them as usual."
As this year begins, I want to express
my appreciation to our Gazette readers,
our writers and contributors, and the
loyal advertisers (who make this publication
possible) —
I couldn’t do this without your
support and enthusiasm!
See you down the road
